Khalazis is more than a sports team. It’s a living tribute to tradition, teamwork, and tenacity. Founded in Washington DC by a group of passionate athletes and friends, Khalazis draws inspiration from the legendary Khalasis of Kerala, India, the traditional marine laborers known for their incredible strength, coordination, and unity.
The Khalasis of Kerala were the original movers of mountains. Men who hauled massive wooden ships using nothing but coir ropes, levers, chants, and sheer willpower. Today, that spirit lives on in us, not on the docks of Beypore, but on the soccer fields, basketball courts, cycling trails, and tennis courts of DC.

Khalazis is a diverse and friendly family of players of all ages and skill levels. From early morning cycling to sunset soccer, we show up for the sport and stay for the friendships. Our events also celebrate Indian traditions and festivals , with occasional Onam tournaments, community potlucks, and Malayalam banter that make it feel like home away from home.
